Cycling training camp in Girona: a guide for clubs
How to plan a club camp near Girona, from travel to routes and budget.
Everything a club captain needs to organise a road, MTB or gravel training camp in Girona: how to get there, when to go, how many riders, what it costs and what the base should have.
In short
Girona is one of the places where professional riders and international teams choose to train, thanks to its variety of terrain and mild climate. Can Freu Cycling House, in Vilobí d’Onyar (La Selva, Girona), is a farmhouse built for cycling groups: 45 places, secure storage for 45 bikes, a mechanic workshop, an 8-seat van with bike trailer and sports half-board. It is 7 minutes from Girona airport, rates start at €65 per person per night with group discounts up to 12%, and the season runs from September to June.
Getting there
From Girona airport in 7 minutes.
Can Freu is in Vilobí d’Onyar, the municipality of Girona–Costa Brava airport (GRO), which makes it one of the easiest bases to reach for clubs flying in with bikes.

- Maçanet-Massanes train station: 10 min
- Girona city: 30 km
- Barcelona: 80 km
- French border: 90 km

When to go
September to June.
The Can Freu season runs from September to June. Autumn and spring are the classic camp months; the mild winter also suits base training, with routes that range from the La Selva plain to the climbs of Les Guilleries and Sant Hilari Sacalm.
