Can Freu Cycling House

About us and why we do it

A farmhouse in La Selva, a lifetime of sport and a way of seeing the bike.

Mauri Nialet, your host.

At the helm of Can Freu is Mauri Nialet, who has spent 25 years opening the doors of this Selva farmhouse to those seeking to disconnect from city life. Before running Can Freu, Mauri lived high-level sport first-hand: alpinism, sport climbing, mountain running, cycling and kitesurfing. That background is exactly what led him to make the move into cycling: turning Can Freu into a cycling centre, because we believe the bike is one of the best ways to reconnect with the land around us.

Riding with care for the land.

At Can Freu Cycling House we see sport as a gateway into nature, not an excuse to ride roughshod over it. Every route we design, every forest we ride through, commits us to looking after it: existing tracks only, respect for the natural spaces of Les Guilleries, and a farmhouse surrounded by 2 hectares of woodland that we manage under that same philosophy. Riding here is also a way of caring for the place.

Between Les Guilleries and Girona.

Les Guilleries and Santa Coloma de Farners are well known territory for mountain bikers: varied terrain, real elevation, and a climate that lets you ride almost all year round.

And just a step away, Girona — one of the places where the most professional cyclists and international teams choose to train. It’s no coincidence: there are routes for every level, and a cycling community that keeps growing.

Can Freu is part of that world, but with its own take on it: the peace of a natural setting, immediate access to Les Guilleries routes, and a house genuinely built for training camps and group cycling stays.
